About
the Designer/Builder
David Buxton
The
remarkable eco home design of the Solar Castle combines efficient
solar home plans and majestic castle
floor plans. Designer & builder David Buxton oversaw the green
construction to create one of the most exclusive homes for
sale in New Mexico. |
Buxton was born New Year’s Day, 1959 in Maidenhead, England
and grew up listening to his mother saying, “David, if
you can’t behave properly, then don’t behave at
all.” He took her advice. Upon arriving in the U.S. in
1979 he became a founding member and singer of the punk rock
band ‘the Stains’. And then overstayed his visa.
He rode from England to Greece on his bicycle. He’s been
married twice (briefly), is mostly single but specializes in
short intense love affairs. He’s the world’s worst
driver that is still alive. That’s the second miracle.
After breaking his neck in 1994 he became disabled and impotent.
His wonderful daughter, Lucy Moon, was born in 1996 and is the
third miracle. His employment record is long and varied.

He’s been a journalist and a street vendor, a teacher
and a N.Y.C. bicycle messenger, a trucking, a shipping and a
box office manager (in this job he created and then prayed to
a box office god who would make money appear in the cash box,
year after year, which was spent on an annual staff sunset party
aboard a concrete-hulled sailing vessel in Sag Harbor, Long
Island. This was the first miracle), a dishwasher, a postman,
an actor, landscaper and research assistant. He’s grateful
for the life he’s lived. The castle is his first attempt
at construction and large-scale land restoration. He currently
sponsors the chess club at Lucy’s school and tells everyone
he’s a bum.
